Quacquarelli Symonds, a global university evaluation agency in the United Kingdom, announced the results of the "QS World University Rankings 2022" on September 9. Hanyang University ranked 156th, which is down 10 places from the previous year, but ranked 7th among Korean universities; the same as last year.
Hanyang University ranked in the top 100 for the first time in 2015 and has been on the rise for 10 consecutive years until last year. This year, it ranked 156th in the world and 7th in Korea. By index, the "Faculty-Student Ratio" index was the highest at 80.1, followed by 74.3 points for "Employer Reputation".
Similar to last years' ranking, Seoul National University ranked 36th, followed by KAIST (41st), Korea University (74th), Yonsei University (79th), Postech (81st), Sungkyunkwan University (97th), Hanyang University (156th), UNIST (212th), Kyung Hee University (304th), and GIST University (304th). According to the Chosun Ilbo report on June 2nd, 4 of the top 100 universities dropped two to nine levels from last year. The magazine pointed out, "The main reason for the decline in the ranking of Korean universities is the decline in research results."
Meanwhile, 6,415 universities from around the world participated in the evaluation, ranked up to 1,300th. In addition, research, education, graduation and internationalization were evaluated based on 6 indicators: academic evaluation, number of thesis citations, number of students per professor, employer reputation, the ratio of foreign professors, and the ratio of foreign students.
