Hanyang University signed a contract for battery materials human resource cultivation with POSCO Chemical. Following this contract, Hanyang University will newly establish the Department of Battery Engineering at the graduate school and runs a customized degree course, "e-Battery Track".
At the agreement ceremony held on the afternoon of the May 12th at Seoul Campus, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, relevant people took place including CEO Min Gyeong-jun of POSCO Chemical and President Kim Woo-seung of Hanyang University.
According to this contract, Hanyang University will establish the Department of Battery Engineering in the General Graduate School and choose excellent talents among the registering students. Those who are selected will finish the e-Battery Track that Hanyang University and POSCO Chemical co-developed and will be cultivated as battery experts equipped with battery materials related to specialized knowledge and work field qualifications.
Such students will be granted a whole tuition fee and scholarship from the university and POSCO Chemical and will get a job at POSCO Chemical after graduating. Also, they will participate in field trips and internship programs of POSCO Chemical during semesters and will conduct co-research tasks.
President Kim Woo-seung said, "We established a battery-related department which is valued as the core part of the 21st-century economy and industry. With POSCO Chemical, we will cultivate the best battery talents for the development of Korea's battery industry."
CEO Min Gyeong-jun of POSCO Chemical noted, "A cooperation with Hanyang University, a leader of fundamental technologies of the battery materials field, will be a chance for POSCO Chemical to enhance our competitiveness. To have excellent talents show their research capacities and to have them grow as leaders of K-battery, we will actively support them."
